Founded in 1975, ASID is the oldest, largest and only multi-disciplinary professional organization for interior designers, interior design students and the manufacturers and suppliers who support the profession. Research & Knowledge Management – Our research team provides economic, sector, career stage and, of course, design data and research to the marketplace. Through the ASID Foundation, we provide over $100,000 in funding annually to various research and scholarship initiatives to help build the knowledge community for the interior design profession. The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) advances the interior design profession and communicates the impact of design on the human experience. Members of the interior design community provide us with the content to communicate the message to the broader public.

The Interior Design Society (IDS) is an independent national organization comprised of more than 2,000 members. One of the country’s largest design organizations dedicated to serving the residential interior design industry, IDS embraces four core values including professionalism, community, influence and growth. About IDS
IDS was initially founded in 1973 by the National Home Furnishings Association (NHFA) with a goal of supporting interior designers working in furniture stores. IDS has long since elevated and expanded its focus to provide support to professional interior design entrepreneurs nationwide. Our national headquarters is located in High Point, North Carolina, the home furnishings capital of the world. They are actively engaged in the Seattle design community and on top of the latest products and trends.
As a chapter we strive to increase and enhance Interior Design practice skills through continuing professional education, and ensure designers’ right to practice through state and national advocacy. We also educate consumers on the value of hiring an Interior Design professional to protect their health, safety and welfare. Finally, we aim to expand markets for all members and provide and promote opportunities and incentives for active participation of our membership. ASID’s CEO, Khoi Vo, ASID, IIDA, CIDA, IDEC, IDECF, is responsible for the day to day management of the Corporation and implementation of the Association’s Strategic Plan. Vo leads a team of 26 individuals in the Association’s corporate headquarters in Washington, D.C. Vo is the voice of the organization and the profession.
